Japanese Damascene Cigarette Case gold copper brass Mt Fuji Tori Boat Pine
A vintage Japanese Damascene Cigarette Case, the front decorated with a profusion of Japanese Architectural and landscape elements including Mt Fuji, Tori, lantern, pagoda, sailing boat, various trees inc Pines and a bridge, fisherman, swallows and landscape to rear. All of the busy design is contained within ornate Japanese textile patterned borders both front, rear and sides with gilt highlights. The interior is plain matt black with 2 gilt spring retainers. The case is slightly curved with rounded corners, the overall condition is good with general scuffing, a few matt black losses, scratches, handling and plate wear consistent with age and expected use. The catch and hinge are in good working order. A good vintage example. Approx 10cm l x 8cm w x 1.8cm h and 122gm.
